Aybar Advances to Qualifying Tournament
AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Alex Aybar advances to the Qualifying tournament at the Reebok/ITA All-American Men's Tennis Championships, Sunday.
Aybar defeated Gonzalo Anderson of Texas A&M, 6-3, 7-5.
Sophomore, Caleb Marquardt fell to Michigan's Ben Cox, 6-4, 0-6, 2-6.
Due to extra spots in the Oct. 12-13 Qualifying Tournament, 14 third round winners, including Aybar, did not need to play in fourth round matches. Out of the 256 men that started in the tournament, only 23 advanced.
In doubles play, Sophomore Bruno Arapovic and Marquardt fell to Blake Baratz and John Monk of Tulane, 7-9.
Partners Aybar and Senior Michal Stopa were defeated by Clemson's Eric Cohn and Brad Emendorfer, 2-8.
Aybar will continue play Monday.
