Women's Tennis Falls to Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Paced by four singles victories, 16th-ranked Texas defeated 20th-ranked Arizona, 7-2, Saturday at the Thousand Oaks Tennis Club. The match was moved to San Antonio due to inclement weather in Austin.

Arizona's sophomore Lindsay Blau and junior Joanna Buczkowska posted upset victories over ranked players in singles play. Blau defeated 29th-ranked Janet Walker, 7-5, 6-2, while Buczkowska outlasted 87-ranked Kaysie Smashey, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6. In doubles play, Texas' duo of Walker and Uhlirova upset UA's fourth-ranked doubles team of junior Michelle Gough and Blau, 8-4.

Arizona returns to action next weekend when it plays hosts to 62nd- ranked Washington State Cougars and No.25 Washington Huskies. The Cats entertain the Cougars on Friday, April 7, at 1:30 p.m. MST while the Huskies comes to town on Saturday, April 8, at noon MST.
