SUNRIVER, Ore. (May 25) -- The first ranked Arizona women's golf team jumped six spots to take the lead at the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships on May 25. Individually for the Wildcats freshman Julia Kraschinski moved up nine spots to take the lead at the tournament, posting a 5-under-par 67, bringing her two day total to 4-under-par 140. Senior Jenna Daniels jumped eight spots to hold second place with a 2-under-par 142. Arizona head coach Todd McCorkle said today, "We have come to expect this kind of performance from Jenna, and if we can get this kind of play out of Julia, it's just an added bonus. Julia is starting to play to her potential and is striking the ball really well." Junior Christina Monteiro goes form being tied for 61st to tied for 26th, carding a 6-over-par 150. Sophomore Cristina Baena (11-over-par 155) is tied for 68th, while junior Jill Gomric (14-over-par 158) is tied for 95th place.

"We still have a lot of golf to play and anything can happen, but we have put ourselves in a pretty good position," said coach McCorkle. "Just as the case has been all season, when someone doesn't have a good day, there is always someone else who steps up for us - and that is what happened again today."
