Women's Golf Wins Fifth Consecutive Title
Top-ranked Daniels wins individual race
TEMPE, Ariz. - The first-ranked Arizona women's golf team set a school record winning its fifth-consecutive tournament this weekend at the Ping/ASU Invitational, carding a team total of 8-over-par 872. The tournament was being held at the Karsten Golf Course (par-72, 6101 yards) on the Arizona State campus. Rounding out the top five teams were Arizona State (11-over-875), New Mexico (25-over-889),Southern California (28-over-892) and San Jose State (32-over-896).
Individually for the Wildcats senior All-American Jenna Daniels took home the individual crown shooting a three-day total of 9-under-par 207, eight strokes better than second place Miriam Nagle of Arizona State(1-under-par 215). Senior Christina Monteiro and freshman Julia Kraschinski tied for 13th at 6-over-par 222, while sophomore Cristina Baena tied for 32nd shooting 10-over-par 226. Senior Jill Gomric tied for 35th place (11-over-par 227).
Freshman Anne Lee golfed as an individual and tied for 76th place at 23-over-par 239.
The next outing for the Wildcats is the Pac-10 Championships in Eugene, Ore. April 24-26, 2000.
