Men's Golf in Second Place After Round Two of John Burns Intercollegiate
Sophomore Brandon Smith is Tied for Fourth Individually
HONOLULU, Hawaii - The 24th-ranked Arizona men's golf team maintained its position in second place at the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course (Par-72, 6,916 yards) after posting a second-round score of 282 on Thursday. The Wildcats, with a score of 18-under-par 558, trail first-place BYU by eight strokes. Oklahoma State is in third at 563, while New Mexico, UNLV and Texas-El Paso are tied for fourth at 564.
Individually, UNLV's Jeremy Anderson moved into first place with a 66 in the second round to improve to 12-under-par 132 for the tournament. BYU's Billy Harvey is three strokes behind at 9-under-par 135, while his teammate, Andy Miller, is third at 7-under137.
Arizona sophomore Brandon Smith is tied for fourth with three others at 6-under-par 138, while freshman Ricky Barnes is tied for eighth at 5-under-par 139. Sophomore Cody Beyer is tied for 12th with a score of 4-under-par 140 and senior Derek Gillespie is tied for 31st at 1-under-par 143. Senior Scott Moore rounds out the lineup for the Wildcats at even-par 144.
The tournament will conclude with the final round Friday, but due to the tee arrangements and time zone differences, results will not be available until Saturday morning.
