Haroon Wins Pac-10 Football Player of Week Honor

Wildcat defensive end Idris Haroon was named Pac-10 defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in helping Arizona beat Stanford, 27-3, in Palo Alto on Saturday.

Haroon, a 6-foot-2 senior from Houston, Texas, returned a fumble 32 yards for a score and had a quarterback sack and another tackle as UA limited the Cardinal to three points, 23 below SU's scoring average.

Haroon also helped out on teammate Adrian Koch's sack in the game, leaping up to block a potential pass and knocking into the feet of Stanford quarterback Chris Lewis before he could get off the throw.

Arizona held Stanford to 68 yards rushing and forced six Cardinal turnovers. The Cats have not allowed a touchdown in three of their games this season.

The honor was Arizona's second defensive player award this year. Haroon's fellow defensive end, Joe Tafoya, earned the award the first week of the season.
