Arizona Women's Basketball
Oregon State vs. Arizona
March 2, 2000- McKale Center
Oregon State Head Coach Judy Spoelstra
On final minutes of the game:
"We panicked a little bit down the stretch. We didn't keep our composure and made some sloppy passes. In the last five minutes of the game, we didn't do as good a job denying the post as we had been.
"We played into their (Arizona's) hands the final five minutes of the game. Their press got to us and we got out of the flow of our offense. Better passing and harder cuts to the ball were the difference in tonight's game.
"I am really proud of the way our girls played tonight. Our girls played with a lot of effort and heart tonight and that's all a coach can ask for.
"This game was a good opportunity for our girls. We proved that we can play with anybody on any given night. I'm still happy with where we sit in the conference with three games to play. The key for us is to put this game behind us and bounce back against Arizona State.
Contrast between first and second meetings between teams: "Up in Corvallis we played really tight and Arizona built a huge lead. Coming down to Tucson, our goal was to jump on them early and we accomplished that.
"I m really pleased with how our defense played. They confused Arizona's offense. Give them some credit, they(Arziona) made some adjustments and did a good job springing their guards free for perimeter shots.
On play of Reda Petratitis: "Arizona was so worried about Sissel Pierce that they left Reda (Petraitis) wide open. She got some nice looks at the baskets and did a good job knocking down her shots."
