TUCSON, Ariz.Sophomore right fielder Rob Garibaldi's two-run double in the ninth broke open a two-all tie, leading No. 16 Southern California to a 6-2 victory over Arizona in Tucson in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday afternoon.

USC improved to 22-10 overall and leads the Pac-10 at 5-1. Arizona fell to 18-20 and 3-6.

Garibaldi's key hit was followed by a two-run single by junior designated hitter Josh Persell. The Trojans other runs came on solo homers by senior third baseman Justin Gemoll in the second and by Persell in the fourth.

Arizona took the lead on a pair of unearned runs off Anthony Reyes in the first. But the freshman righty shut the Cats out after that, striking out nine in 7.2 innings. Sophomore lefty Mark Todd (1-0) came on in relief to earn his first career victory.

Senior left-hander Tony Milo allowed just two runs on six hits in five innings for the Cats but left the game after taking a line drive off his back. Senior righty Mike Crawford (4-6) pitched three shutout innings before giving up four in the ninth.

Juniors Trevor Mote and Ernie Durazo each collected a pair of hits for the Cats.

Arizona returns to action Friday when it travels to Seattle to take on Washington at 6:30 p.m. PDT.
