Arizona Ranked 19th in Baseball America Preseason Poll
TUCSON, Ariz.Arizona is ranked 19th in Baseball America's preseason poll released today. Earlier, the Cats had been ranked No. 19 by Collegiate Baseball as well.
Pac-10 rival Stanford is BA's preseason choice to win the national title. Three of the magazine's top six teams (No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 UCLA, No. 6 Houston) appear on the Cats' schedule this season. This is the Cats' highest preseason ranking in Baseball America since 1993, when they were voted No. 2 behind LSU.
Arizona, which returns seven starters from last year's squad which qualified for NCAA play for the first time in six seasons, was voted fourth in the Pac-10's preseason vote of the coaches.
Arizona opens its 2000 campaign at home against St. Mary's on Jan. 21 at 3 p.m.
