 Arizona Soccer Downs Wyoming, 3-1

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Junior forward Chrissy Sanford (Newbury, CA/Newbury Park HS) racked up two goals and an assist while leading the University of Arizona women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Wyoming in front of a crowd of 486 at Murphey Stadium on Sunday.
The Wildcats made it onto the board early, when Sanford sent a cross from the right side to sophomore forward Tiffany Sabado (Kaneohe, HI/James B. Castle HS), who dented the net at the 2:58 mark. Sanford put the Cats up 2-0 in the 12th minute after she dribbled through the Wyoming defense to score her first goal of the game. Sanford struck again in the 64th minute, scoring off a direct kick on the right side of the box and recording her third multiple-goal performance of the season. Wyoming junior forward Kelly McShane broke the shutout at the 80:27 mark when she fired in a shot from outside the box. Arizona outshot the Cowgirls, 15-10. The win gives Arizona a modest three-game win streak and ties the school record for longest win streak, set by the 1995. Arizona improves its record to 6-4-0 overall, only two wins away from tying the school record for most victories. Wyoming drops to 2-8-1 on the year. The Cats resume Pac-10 play again next weekend with a two-game trip to Los Angeles. Arizona will face USC on Friday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m., then will take on UCLA on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m.
