Arizona: After spending the 1998 season as the No. 2-3 runner with David Lopez, Jones will be among the front runners for the team's top spot this year... Finished third at the Irvine Invitational and second at the Aztec Invitational early in the season... Finished 10th as Arizona's No. 2 runner at the Pac-10 Championships (24:13)... Injured and forced to drop out of the NCAA meet... 1999 Track and Field... Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000m with a time of 13:52.46 at the Cardinal Invitational... Finshed 20th in the 5,000m at the NCAA meet... Finished third in the Pac-10 in the 1,500m (3:53.99)... Best time of the season in the 1,500m of 3:46.89 came at the UA-ASU-NAU double-dual meet in Tempe... Missed much of the 1997 cross country season with mononucleoses... Finished third at the Aztec Invitational with a time of 25:39... Was one of the Wildcats' best distance runners during the track and field season... 1998 Track and Field... Ran 3:49.88 in the 1,500m at the Pac-10/Big 10 Challenge in Los Angeles... Ran 14:15.27 in the 5,000m at the Mt. SAC Relays... 1996-97... Had a very good start to his collegiate career during his freshman season... Placed 10th in his first meet, the Jammin' Invitational... Was 32nd at the Mountain West Classic, 34th at the Murray Keatinge Invitational and 64th at the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Tucson... At the Pac-10 Championships, had a strong showing, placing 22nd in a time of 25:31... Went on to the District VIII Championships to place 64th.

High School: Attended Livermore High School where he was the California state cross country  champion as a junior... A three-time state finalist in the 1,600m and set the school record for the same event... Owned personal bests of 1:54.7 in the 800m, 4:09.82 in the 1,600m and 9:05.23 in the 3,200m... As a senior, finished seventh in the country in both the 1,600m and 3,200m... Earned four letters in cross country and four in track... Captain of the cross country team as a senior... Had a 3.7 GPA.

Personal: Micheil Keegan Jones... Born 11-26-77 in Livermore, Calif... Parents are Dale and Kaleri Jones... Father is a chemical engineer who attended Ursinus College and M.I.T. and his mother is a teacher who went to Northeastern... Enjoys playing the bass guitar and violin, mountain biking, snow skiiing and reading... Had an uncle who was a cross country runner at Purdue and has a brother who runs at Cal Poly Pomona... A mathematics major who wants to teach after graduation.
