University of Arizona player quotes
Loren Woods -
"This was kind of a stress-free week. Against Oregon, we got a tough, physical game, but we executed well down the stretch and kept the stress down. Tonight, we were able to run away a little bit more, and we were able to get some people some rest. That is going to be very good for us going to the Washington schools.
"Except for one or two minutes, the crowd was not really into it. They were thinking that this was just Oregon State, so they were not into it. They don't know how tough Oregon State is and how much they want to beat us. They wanted to come out and knock us off.
On entering the second half of the Pac-10 season 8-1: "We are in great shape considering that we are without Richard (Jefferson). We would love to have him, he would be a great addition for us, but I think that we are in good shape. We are going to have to fight for our lives now up at Washington. That is going to be a very tough, critical trip for us."
Luke Walton -
"We wanted to try to put this game away early, but they were the ones who came out and went up on us early. We were able to make some adjustments and they get the game back under control. We can't wait for other teams to come out and miss a lot of shots. We need to get in their faces and stop their shots with our defense, rather than waiting for them to miss.
"They have a lot of good players on that team, and they came out and gave us a good 40 minute game. However, we still did not play as well as we would have liked to. The thing that was good was that we were at home and we felt that we were in control of the game."
Ricky Anderson -
"I think that we are playing with a lot more confidence now, but we are still not playing as well as we would like to. We have to play full, 40 minute games or we are going to get upset sometimes. We have to get rested and prepared because we have a big week next weekend. If we are able to get these two wins, our confidence is going to be going way off.
"The game was kind of slow. In the first half, we were able to get some things going after a while, but then things slowed down again in the second half with all of the fouls. I began to feel good in the first half, but it was hard to get into a rhythm in the second half.
"It was not as good of a game as we could play. We need to get good looks and hit our shots. Michael Wright did a great job of hitting his shots down low and played very physically. Luke Walton did a great job defensively.
"Washington has a lot of really good players. (Deon) Luton is a great player, Michael Johnson, they have a lot of good players. With Washington State, you never know what you are going to get when you paly on their court. JT (Jason Terry) had to get a steal up there last year to secure the win."
