General: The player who wants to become a coach after his college days are over... Although he doesn't play much -- his assistance both on and off the court is one of the keys for Arizona's success... Graduated in December of 1998 with a degree in family studies after just two-and-a-half years of college... The quickest amount of time it has ever taken for a UA athlete to earn a degree... Is taking graduate classes now... He often leads late night shooting drills in McKale with Arizona players... Helps the coaching staff break down game film and scout opponents as well... Lute Olson has said he is like having another coach on the bench... He is the first to tell you that Arizona has an all-time record of 28-0 when he plays... What he fails to mention, is that he hasn't played in the first half of a game... He also doesn't say he is put into games in the latter stages of contests that Arizona has won by around 25 points a game, thus lending credence to therm a Pastner Game... Former Wildcat and 1998 NBA No. 2 pick Mike Bibby has credited Pastner for a lot of the success he enjoyed while at the UA... Bibby asked him to come to Vancouver with him to be his shooting coach, but he declined so he could pursue his head coaching dream... Among his five rules to being a good college coach, "You have to be able to recruit the moms"... In the summer , he is the head coach of a Houston-select AAU team -- the Houston Hoops...  This past summer, he coached the squad to the Nike National Summer Championship in San Diego... Team was named the national AAU team of the summer... Originally scheduled to walk-on to the program, he was offered a scholarship prior to his freshman season... Gave the scholarship up prior to 1998-99 to make room for Wake Forest transfer, Loren Woods.

1998-99 (Junior): Played in three games... Against Oregon State and California in McKale Center and versus Holy Cross in the Bank One Fiesta Bowl Classic... Versus Holy Cross, he scored two points and grabbed a rebound in five minutes of time... Was 1-of-3 from the floor on the season and 0-of-2 from the three-point line... Mary Roby Academic Achievement award winner (honor for Arizona student athletes who maintain a 3.0 GPA or better for two calendar semesters).

1997-98 (Sophomore): Played in 17 games... High-point game of the season was his four-point night against Kansas State... Got to play in the first and second round NCAA games after helping Alexander Wolff and Sports Illustrated preview some of the posssible darkhorses for the NCAA Tournament... Tied a career-high with two rebounds in the Illinois State win... Scored three points with two boards and an assist in the season opener against Morgan State... Played in a career-high four games in a row from the Arizona State home win to the Oregon State win in Tucson... Five assists, six rebounds on the year... Scored nine points.

1996-97 (Freshman):  Played in eight games during the Cats' national championship season (total of 26 minutes)... Scored 12 points to go with three rebounds and six assists... Had a career-best five points in two different games, against Robert Morris and Jackson State...  Was 2-of-2 from the floor versus JSU with one rebound... His two free throws put Arizona over the 100-point mark versus USC...  The first 3PT of his career came against Robert Morris... Career-best four assists versus Penn... Before the first day of practice, he told Lute Olson that the team would win the national championship.

High School: Attended Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas -- a north Houston suburb... A two-year varsity letterman on the basketball team... A unanimous All-District 21-5A selection for head coach Royce Huseman... Shot 56% from the three-point line to lead the district... Overall, he shot 52%from the floor to the lead the district as well... As a senior, he averaged 16 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 8 apg and 2.1 spg... All stats were team-highs... High School MVP... Listed among the top players in the state of Texas... Voted Most Dedicated by his teammates... During his junior year, he scored 12 ppg and as a frosh he netted 25 ppg.

His sister, Courtney, will be a freshman on the Texas Tech women's hoop team and was the Gatorade Texas High School Player of the Year last season... After first saying his ultimate dream is to become a Division I college basketball coach, he has now upped his goal to coach in the NBA... Enjoys teaching and coaching basketball with youth... Made sure UA players were lifting weights during the 1997 Australia trip -- he would scout out the city beforehand to find the best workout facilities.
