Lamont Frazier

Position: Guard
Class/Experience: Junior/JC
Height: 6-3
Weight: 182
Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
High School/Junior College: Dorsey HS/Lon Morris JC

General: One of the few junior college transfers brought in by Lute Olson at the UA, he will enroll as a junior this fall and have two years of eligibility remaining... He spent the past two seasons at Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas... A tremendous outside shooter, he will give the Cats some upperclass leadership and firepower... Good athlete and solid defender... Coaches feel he can play any of the perimeter positions... Maturity was big drawing card in getting him to the UA... Was a high school buddy of Arizona football wide receiver standout Dennis Northcutt at Dorsey HS... Northcutt aided in the campus visit last spring... Signed with the Cats in mid April of 1999.

Junior College: An all-conference and all-region 14 selection at Lon Morris JC last year after averaging 23 points, 5.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game... Shot 41 percent from the three-point line as well... He scored more than 30 points in a game five times and 20 or more 20 times last year... As a freshman, he shot 51% from outside the three-point arc... Averaged 16. 2 ppg, 5.3 rpg 3.0 apg and 2.2 spg... In two years at Lon Morris JC, he scored 1,108 points... Shooting percentages were down in his second year due in part to the fact that he saw a lot of box-and-one defenses throughout the year and the team lost two of its better players from the previous season.

High School: Attended Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, where he lettered in both basketball and football... Played hoops for head coach Kevin Gibson... As a senior averaged 18.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.2 apg... Averaged 15.5 ppg and 6.2 rpg as a junior and 10.3 ppg and 4.2 rpg as a sophomore.

Personal: Lamont Dupree Frazier... Born 12-12-78 in Los Angeles... Son of Robin Walton... Will major in sociology at the UA... Enjoys playing basketball, video games, shopping and working on his basketball skills... Worked at the Hollywood Park racetrack this past summer.
