1.7.2000 Wildcats Complete Sweep of Bears as Men's Hoops Defeats Cal, 65-61 (Berkeley-AP) - Number-five Arizona defeated California 65-to-61 tonight in the teams' Pac-Ten opener in Berkeley. Loren Woods scored 23 points -- including two key baskets over the final 1:30 in the win. Michael Wright added 15 points and the freshmen backcourt of Gilbert Arenas and Jason Gardner had ten points each for the Wildcats. Arizona coach Lute Olson picked up his 599th career victory. He'll seek his next one Saturday, when the Wildcats face top-ranked Stanford. Nick Vander Laan's 14 points led Cal, while Dennis Gates and Sean Lampley added 12 points each. |
