In his second year at the UA, assistant coach Andre Luciano joined the Wildcat women's soccer staff in 1999, bringing with him coaching experience at many different levels, from intercollegiate to club teams.

Formerly the director of goalkeeping for the Nevada State Olympic Development Program, Luciano is now the head coach of the Arizona `85 ODP team.

Luciano came to the UA after a stint as an assistant for the Utah State women's program in 1998. Prior to Utah State, Luciano was an assistant coach with the Washington State women for the 1995 and 1996 seasons and also coached in the Washington East Olympic Development Program during that time.

Before heading west, Luciano served as a co-head coach for the girls program at McAuley High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the coach of the Team Acceleration, an under-17 girls club program.

As a player, Luciano began his career at Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Ariz. He was named the ISAA/adidas Goalkeeper of the Year and the NJCAA Tournament Most Valuable Goalkeeper after leading Yavapai to the NJCAA national championship in 1990.

Luciano transferred from there to Indiana University for his final two seasons and became one of the top goalkeepers in the country. He helped the Hoosiers to Big Ten championships in 1991 and 1992, as well as a berth in the NCAA tournament both years. The squad made the Final Four in 1991 and the Elite Eight in 1992. Luciano was selected Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year in 1991 and finished in the top 10 in the nation both season in goals against average.

Luciano stayed on with the Hoosiers during the 1993 season, acting as an undergraduate assistant coach while completing his degree. He graduated from Indiana in 1993 with a B.A. in American history.
