Volleyball Earns No.7 Preseason Ranking
The Arizona women's volleyball team will enter the 2000 season as the seventh-ranked team in the country according to a preseason poll in the latest issue of Volleyball Magazine. The Wildcats return five starters, including All-Pac-10 performers Dana Burkholder and Marisa DaLee, and 11 letterwinners from the 1999 Sweet Sixteen squad that finished the season 21-11, 12-6 in the Pac-10. The Cats will play eight of the top 20 teams in the poll during the 2000 season.
"Single digits (No.7) is a new area for us," head coach David Rubio says. "It's very exciting to be ranked that high. We're honored, but the reality of it is it doesn't make any difference. It's the final ranking of the season that really means something."
