UW Men's Tennis Claws Past Wildcats
SEATTLE, Wash. - - The No. 26 ranked University of Washington men's tennis team improved its record to 14-6 beating the No. 55 ranked University of Arizona 6-1 this afternoon at the Bill Quillian Stadium. The Huskies are now 2-2 in the Pac-10.
In the No. 1 doubles position, Junior Andy Posavac and Senior Nick Quatrochi attacked the net and defeated Jean-Noel LaCoste and Michel Stopa, 8-4. Freshman Matt Hanlin and junior Mark Woolley came from behind and put forth strong teamwork to defeat Alex Aybar and Tom Lloyd, 9-7 in the No. 3 position.
In the No. 1 position in singles, Freshman Matt Hanlin shutout No. 89 ranked Alex Aybar, 6-4, 6-4. Junior Marius Lunde lost his first set, but came back to defeat Tom Lloyd, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 position.
The Huskies continue Pac-10 action at home next weekend hosting USC on Friday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. On Saturday, April 15 at noon, the Huskies play UCLA in the last home meet of the season. Both matches will be held in the Bill Quillian Stadium, weather permitting.
