Men's Tennis Upsets Rice

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona men's tennis team, ranked 60th in the country, captured five of six single matches leading to a 6-1 victory over 46th-ranked Rice Sunday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Cats are now 4-3 overall while the Owls fall to 3-2.
In the top spot of doubles play seniors Jean-Noel LaCoste and Michel Stopa beat Robert Collins and Ramez Qamer 9-7, while juniors Alex Aybar and Brian Jackson won against Cody Jackson and Alexis Pourchet, 9-8, (10-8), at the No. 3 spot.
For the third time in singles play freshman Tom Lloyd clinched the match for the Cats. Lloyd defeated Alexis Pourchet, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 spot. Rice's only point came from Kevin Hargrova who defeated sophomore Jari Niskala at the No. 6 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
The Wildcats return to action Friday when they play host to No. 31 Texas Tech Feb. 25, at 1:30 p.m.
