Former Arizona Diver Competing for Puerto Rico in 2000 Summer Games

TUCSON, Ariz. Former Arizona diver Angelique Rodriguez will be diving for Puerto Rico in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Rodriguez, a 1999 honorable mention All-America selection, graduated from UA in May 1999 with a second bachelor's degree in marketing. She received her first degree from the University of Massachusetts in dance. Rodriguez is now attending graduate school at Arizona and is working towards a master's degree in sports administration.

When asked how it feels to know that she will be competing in the 2000 Olympics, Rodriguez replied, I don't think that it's real yet, and I probably won't think so until I get to Sydney. I'm training hard and trying to take things one day at a time.

Rodriguez is training at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center twice a day with Arizona diving team and once a day by herself. Her coach from Puerto Rico coaches her daily at Hillenbrand.
