Jenna Daniels Named Rolex Collegiate Golfer of the Month
Tucson, Ariz. After winning the NCAA Championship in Sunriver Ore., on May 27, University of Arizona senior golfer Jenna Daniels was named the Rolex Golfer of the Month for the second consecutive month and third time this season. It is only the second time in the five-year history of the College Golf that an individual has been named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month three times in one season. The first was Tiger Woods of Stanford, who was named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month three times during the 1995-96 season (February, April & May).
Daniels won the individual title at the Women's Division I NCAA Championship, her third Rolex Collegiate Tour win of the season. She shot 73-69-68-77 (287, 1-under) while leading Arizona to its second national championship. The Wildcats, who won nine tournaments this season, set a new school record winning their last eight tournaments to close out the season. Daniels also tied for 15th place at the NCAA West Regional. She shot a five-over par 221 (74-71-76) while helping to lead Arizona to the team title.
Daniels was named the Eleanor Dudley College Player of the Year, and won the Golfstat Cup Award for lowest stroke average during the 1 season (71.71). Ranked No. 1 in the final edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, Daniels finished the month of May with a stroke average of 72.57 in seven rounds.
