Women's Golf Remains in First at NCAA Championships
UA's Jenna Daniels and Julia Kraschinski tied for first
SUNRIVER, Ore. - The top ranked Arizona women's golf team continues to lead the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, shooting a 7-under-par 281 today. This brings the Wildcats three day total to 1-over-par 865. The Cats are 28 strokes ahead of second place Southern California who shot a 9-over-par 297 today bringing their total to 29-over-par 893. Rounding out the top five teams are Texas, Oregon and Georgia all posting a three day total of 31-over-par 895. The tournament is being held at the Crosswater Course, Sunriver Resort a par 72, 6,502 yard layout.
Individually for the UA senior Jenna Daniels and freshman Julia Kraschinski are tied for first place, posting a 6-under-par 210. Sophomore Cristina Baena came back from being tied at 68 to be tied for 18th shooting a 4-under-par 68 today bringing her total to 7-over-par 223. Junior Christina Monteiro dropped to No. 40, carding an 11-over-par 227. Senior Jill Gomric moved up to be tied for 80th place, shooting an 18-over-par 233.
Arizona head coach Todd McCorkle said after play today that "This was an incredible day, possibly the greatest day in the history of Arizona women's golf. This was an all around good day, everybody played well."
The final day of play at the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships is tomorrow, May 27, play will resume at 9:00 a.m. MST/PDT.
