SUNRIVER, Ore. (May 24) -- The top ranked Arizona women's golf team is in sixth place after day one of the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, shooting 11-over-par 299. Leading the way in the team competition is Oregon with a 7-over-par 295, followed by Texas and Georgia (8-over-par 296). Tied for fourth are Purdue and Ohio State (10-over par 298). The tournament is being held at the Crosswater Course, Sunriver Resort, a par 72, 6,502 yard layout.

Individually for the Wildcats senior Jenna Daniels and freshman Julia Kraschinski are tied for 10th posting a 1-over-par 73. Sophomore Cristina Baena is tied for 44th with a 4-over-par 76, while junior Christina Monteiro shot a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for 61st. Senior Jill Gomric is tied for 116th shooting a 10-over-par 82.

Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh leads the individual race carding a 3-under-par 69, while Oklahoma State's Maria Boden* is in second with a 2-under-par 70. Auburn's Danielle Downey and Georgia's Angela Jerman are tied for third posting a 1-under-par 71. Duke's Beth Bauer, Michigan State's Emily Bastel, Oregon's Pam Sowden, UTEP's Kristen MacLaren* and Tennessee's Tina Schneeberger are all tied for fifth shooting even par 72.

The second day of the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships is tomorrow with a 9 a.m. MST/PDT tee time.
