No. 1 Wildcats Crush The California All-Stars, 104-66
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Luke Walton scored 16 points and all five Arizona starters reached double figures as the Wildcats beat the California All-Stars 104-66 in their preseason opener Sunday night.
Arizona, expected to be one of the nation's top teams this season, missed its first eight shots and had two turnovers as the All-Stars took a 7-0 lead.
Richard Jefferson hit Gilbert Arenas for a lob slam after nearly four minutes had elapsed and the Wildcats heated up from there, making 18 of the next 25 field goals to build a 21-point lead at halftime.
Michael Wright added 14 points for Arizona while Jefferson and Loren Woods had 11 apiece. Arenas and Jason Gardner each scored 10.
Larry Abney paced the California All-Stars with 12 points while Andy Bostik added 10.
