Quotes:

LUTE OLSON

Opening Statement:
I thought in the initial going we were really tight, we played like the three freshmen that we had on the court. I didn't think we were as relaxed as we needed to be. One of the key things we felt we could do was get deflections of passes and that those could lead to turnovers for us. I thought we did a good job defensively, pretty much the whole game. Offensively we had a lot to try to straighten out at half time and we were much more efficient in the second half.

On how his team will be able to move on and advance without Loren Woods:
Well, the key to our team has always been defense and I think that is the key for us. With Loren gone we're not as good defensively as we were because of his ability to eliminate the shots in the basket area, but actually today we had eight blocked shots and some of them came at pretty key times.

On surprising half court style of Jackson State:
Well, they opened in the zone, we anticipated that they might play some zone and generally speaking the zone is going to tend to slow things down a little bit. But, our game plan was to make them run their half court offense and I think for the most part we did a pretty good job of that.

On how you prepare players for the post season:
The thing that we try to do is not to make it bigger than life. We're the youngest team in the NCAA playoffs and probably the biggest problem was them having time today to watch some of the games on TV. When they're watching and they're seeing the number of close games, they begin feeling, I think, the pressure of the tournament.

On the Jackson State size advantage:
We just felt it was not a situation were we could try to front because of their size. What we tried to do was get them off the block to catch the ball and then come quickly with the double (team) and make them make a play out of the double team. And, for the most part I think we did a good job with that.

GILBERT ARENAS

On the Jackson State size advantage:
Really you can't worry about size advantage. You just got to go out there and play hard.

RICHARD JEFFERSON

On his big second half performance:
I don't think I was more aggressive, I think I just let things come to me. I think in the first half when I made some turnovers sometimes I was trying to be too aggressive, I was trying to get things on my own. In the second half, the shots that I did hit, I kinda just let them come to me out of our offense and I started moving a whole lot more.
