Box Score
TUCSON-Maureen LeCocq's infield ground ball drove in Robin Walker with the winning run in No. 7 Stanford's extra-inning victory over the No. 2 Arizona softball team Sunday, 4-3.
The loss was Arizona's first in Pac-10 play (6-1) and dropped the Cats to 42-4 overall. Stanford improve to 2-6 and 33-9. Arizona's Becky Lemke (22-4) took the loss, despite holding Stanford to 6 hits. UA collected 10 off winner Dana Sorensen (16-4).
Walker and Jessica Mendoza drew walks to start things off for Stanford in the eighth, and after a fielder's choice moved Walker to third, LeCoq hit a ball up the middle which UA shortstop Allison Andrade handled for an out at first but which allowed Walker to score.
Tucson high school product Sarah Beeson smacked a three-run home run in the top of the fourth to give Stanford a 3-2 lead. Beeson, the Cardinal firstbaseman, graduated from Canyon del Roro High in Tucson in 1998. Arizona came back in the bottom of the fifth to tie when Lindsey Collins doubled to center and scored on Chrissy Gil's single to left.
UA had taken a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Jennie Finch and a sacrifice fly by Collins.

Arizona concluded a seven-game homestand and will hit the road for successive weekends through April before its next home game May 5. The Cats travel to No. 4 UCLA next Friday and top-ranked Washington Saturday and Sunday.
