Bryant's Grand Slam Gives Wolf Pack Comeback Victory Over Cats

TUCSON, Ariz.Junior left fielder Bo Bryant's eighth inning grand slam, his first hit of the season, lifted Nevada to a 10-7 come-from-behind victory over Arizona here Friday afternoon.

Nevada improved its mark to 5-3 with the victory, while the Cats dropped to 7-5.

Arizona sophomore right-hander Ben Diggins held Nevada to one unearned run through 6.0 innings, and the Cats took a 6-1 lead heading into the seventh. But the Wolf Pack posted three runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to take the lead.

Junior right fielder Josh Laidlaw collected four hits, and senior center fielder Joe Inglett registered three safeties and scored three runs for the Wolf Pack.

Senior right-hander Chad Qualls (1-0) overcame a five-run third inning by the Cats and lasted 8.0 innings, earning the victory. Senior southpaw Tony Milo (1-2) allowed five runs in 1.1 innings to take the loss for Arizona.

For the Cats, junior shortstop Keoni DeRenne was perfect on the day, collecting three walks, a single and his first home run of the season.

The Cats and Wolf Pack meet again Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sancet Field.
