BYU Comes From Behind to Beat Arizona

Provo, Utah (Sept. 13) - BYU overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to edge the University of Arizona, 3-1, Monday afternoon in Provo.

BYU fell behind just minutes into the game, allowing Wildcat Chrissy Sanford to score an unassisted goal.

The Cougars responded early in the second half on a goal by junior Kim Lowe, but could not convert again until just under nine minutes remaining when junior Sara Reading connected on a header by Sarah Higham. That was the spark the team needed, and Staci Reynolds added another goal a minute later to assure the victory.

BYU set a new team record for shots attempted in a single game with 39 shots. The old record was 38, set at home against Idaho State on September 19 of last year.

The Wildcats fell to 3-2 this season, while the Cougars preserved their perfect start by improving to 6-0. The Cougars go on the road next to face a tough USC squad Friday afternoon.
