Arizona: Returning for her final year of eligibility, Wright will be looked to for depth in the No. 4-5 positions on the team... Did not compete early in the 1998 season, but competed at both the NCAA West Regional and the NCAA Championships... Finished 82nd at the West Regional in 18:55... Was the Wildcats' No. 5 finisher in Lawrence at the NCAA meet, placing 200th (19:11.52)... 1999 Track and Field... Qualified for the Pac-10 Championships in the 1,500m, but did not advance past the first heat... Best finish of the 1997 cross country season came at the Murray Keatinge Invitational where she finished 23rd with a time of 18:24... During the 1998 track and field season, had the Wildcats' second-best 800m time, 2:12.46, at the Pac-10/Big-10 double-dual meet in Los Angeles... Qualified for the Pac-10 Championships in the 1,500m with a time of 4:36.06 at the Willie Williams Classic... Squad member during the 1996 cross country season... 1997 Track and Field... Ran a then-personal best of 2:15.9 in the 800m at the Jim Click Wildcat Shootout during the track and field season... Used redshirt season during both the 1995 cross country and 1996 track and field campaigns.

High School:  Graduated from North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Wash... A two-time Olympic League cross country champion and was third in the district twice... Was a force in the 800m during track season, winning the state title once, the district twice and the league championship three times... Placed third in the 400m at the 1992 TAC Junior Olympic National's... Also ran the 400m and 1600m and was a Hershey National Champion in the latter race in 1991... A 1994 second team All-League softball performer in centerfield... Member of the honor society... Won four letters in cross country, three in track and one in softball.

Personal:  Maia Lea Wright... Born 3-16-77 in Fairbanks, Alaska... Daughter of Richard and Kathleen Wright... Pre-education major with plans to become a teacher... Father played football for Washington State in 1963 and 1964... Mother graduated from the University of Washington... Enjoys hiking and kayaking.
