Arizona's No. 2 runner across the line in both the NCAA West Regional and the NCAA Championships, finishing 19th at the Regional (31:19) and 64th (31:40.20) at the NCAA Championships in Lawrence, Kan... Finished 24th at the Pac-10 Championships (24:42) in Eugene, Ore... 1999 Track and Field... Ran a season-best time of 31:06.06 in the 10,000m at the Pac-10 Championships to place fifth... Finished seventh in the 5,000m the next day (14:42.55)... Top 5,000m time of the season was 14:32.43 at the UA-ASU-NAU double-dual meet... As a freshman cross country runner in 1997, Lopez finished 24th and was the Wildcats' second runner across the finish line at the NCAA West Regionals with a time of 32:03.7... High School: Attended Hoover High School in Glendale, Calif., where he was an eight-time letterwinner in cross country and track... Two-time first team All-CIF selection and was named to the second team as a sophomore... Southern Section champion in 1996 and was a first team All-State performer... Number-one ranked runner in the state of California in 1996... Third team All-American and first team All-Western Region in 1996... Hoover High School's Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior.
