Brigham Young University: Attended BYU and competed for the cross country and track and field teams as a freshman in 1994-95... Ran 1:52 in the 800m, 3:50 in the 1,500m and 4:06 in the mile.
High School: Attended Brighton H.S. in Sandy, Utah... Lettered four times in cross country and three times in track and field for coaches Steve Young and Willie Cowden... Ran the 800m, 1,600m and 3,200m in track and field... Was the team captain for both cross country and track and field from 1992-94... Was also the cross country and track and field teams' MVP from 1992-94... All-state at the 5A level from 1992-94... 1993 Utah Cross Country Athlete of the Year as a senior... As a senior ran 1:55 in the 800m, 4:17 in the 1,600m and 9:10 in the 3,200m... Holds the school record in both the 1,600m and 3,200m.

Has two older sisters, Heather and Rachel, two younger sisters, Rebecca and Megan, and two younger brothers, Trent and Jordan... His sister Heather competed in cross country and track and field at Southern Utah University... Enjoys reading and mountain biking... Academic area of interest is French and history.
